RESEARCH SCIENTIST / ENGINEER

5-year fixed-term contract

Core mission
The Neutron Optics Service is responsible for developing and manufacturing in-house optical devices for the ILL’s world-class neutron instruments, based on technologies such as mosaic single-crystal synthesis, multilayer coating by magnetron sputtering and polarized 3He neutron spin filter cells. As a member of this Service you will work in close collaboration with experts in the field of neutron optics, in particular on the design, optimization and testing of polarizing neutron optical components.

Your tasks
• Develop high-quality polarized neutron supermirrors, optimizing the interfaces in magnetic multilayers.
• Optimize performances of 3He spin filter cells with respect to the relaxation time of the 3He polarized gas.
• Develop new types of metallic multilayers and supermirrors for the transport of cold and very cold neutron beams.
• Participate in the implementation and fine-tuning of new magnetic devices for wide-angle polarization analysis on cold neutron scattering instruments in close collaboration with ILL scientists and engineers.
• Become a driving force for proposals and innovations in the field of neutron optics to upgrade ILL instruments and the techniques used in the Neutron Optics Service.
• Publish experimental results.

Your profile

PhD in physics or chemical physics (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of materials science, optics and/or neutron or X-Ray instrumentation is required
• Knowledge of ray-tracing simulations (e.g. Monte Carlo) on the transport of polarized neutrons from the source to the detector position would be an asset
• You are comfortable with both design/computing and experimental work
• You are a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills who is able to work efficiently with the other members of the Service (engineers and technicians) as well as with ILL scientists.

Mansioni da svolgere:
  • Dispensare prescrizioni per farmaci, compresi i narcotici.
  • Vendere e consigliare farmaci OTC.
  • Consigliare e vendere prodotti di parafarmacia, prodotti di aromaterapia e prodotti di fitoterapia.
  • Coordinare, supervisionare e gestire il team della farmacia. Assicurare la gestione quotidiana della farmacia.

 

Si richiede la cittadinanza europea, la laurea in Farmacia e obbligatoriamente un livello B1 della lingua francese. Esperienza preferibile ma non necessaria.

IRLANDA -SITE MANAGER - ENERPOWER

This role will encompass hands on site management from day one on site through to commissioning and post-installation support. Once mobilised, it is the site managers job, in conference with the project engineer/project manager, to complete the project as efficiently as possible while adhering to budget. This role covers the entire Island of Ireland and projects can last anywhere from 3 days to 12 months plus.

  • Report to PM and senior management as required

Experience and Qualifications
  • Previous Site Supervision/Management is required
  • Safe pass, manual handling, are a minimum, MEWP, First aid, Confined space, Abrasive Wheels,Hot works & Working at height etc. would be an advantage
  • Subcontractor management & schedule is a key requirement
  • Roofing, Scaffolding, PCSC experience
  • 2+ Years of site management
  • Full Clean Driving License
  • Knowledge of renewable energy systems Solar PV, Wind Turbines, Biomass Boilers would be an advantage
  • Electrical design of renewable systems would be an advantage
  • Grid Connection Experience would be an advantage

Objectives of the Role
  • As part of a small team work collaboratively to develop the Supply Chain function both internally and as a strategic resource, cultivating key stakeholder relationships.
  • Work Collaboratively, negotiate and engage with stakeholders and suppliers regarding new projects, supplies and initiatives and advise of impact of change on purchasing and production activities.
  • In conjunction with manager, set up the estimating process and procedures, systems and database. Maintain the estimating system to ensure prime costs are correct.
  • Prepare tender pricing, documentation and bid validation
  • Preparing quotations, construction handovers, site surveys
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of required goods, materials or services and advise relevant individuals of any impact.
  • Proactively update relevant individuals on issues or concerns, in particular when there is a risk which could prevent the Company meeting customer demands.
  • Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice and tools and methods.
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
  • Explore alternate sources for goods and materials.
  • Pro-actively contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods, materials or services and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact the business.
  • Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
     
Required Skills for the Role
  • Degree in Engineering/Quantity Surveying
  • 5+ Years of previous experience in a similar position or appropriate comprehensive experience in similar position
  • Proven negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Commercially and financially aware
  • Strong proven experience of building and maintaining effective and productive relationships
  • Proven purchasing experience, preferable within an engineering or utilities environment.
