Core mission
The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world and hosts over 2000 visits by scientists per year, who come to carry out world-class research. Reporting to the Head of Service, you will join the Customs and Transport team, which forms part of the Purchasing Service within the ILL's Administration Division. Working closely with the ILL's internal services (Purchasing, Stores, teams of scientists, etc.) and external partners (forwarding agents, transport companies, customs authorities), you will be responsible for the administrative and logistical management of the international flow of goods, as well as for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Your tasks
• Organise import and export operations in collaboration with suppliers and ILL's internal services
• Coordinate all customs procedures: prepare, check and submit the necessary documentation (invoices, transport documents, certificates of origin, customs declarations, etc.)
• Monitor and apply special customs arrangements: exemptions from duty, temporary arrangements (import/export), temporary importation, inward/outward processing, etc.
• Manage movements of goods within the EU and prepare Intrastat reports on the exchange of goods and services (DEB and DES declarations) in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Work with forwarding agents and customs authorities to ensure compliance with procedures and to ensure that the operations run smoothly
• Organise international transport, including transport of regulated materials (dangerous, sensitive or technical goods) base on specific project needs
• Check, process and classify transport/customs invoices and ensure the administrative documentation is properly archived
• Manage disputes and discrepancies linked to transport or customs compliance in collaboration with the relevant parties.

Your profile
• Level 5/6 qualification (HND, NVQ, undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification) in
international commerce, transport and logistics, or customs procedures (or equivalent)
• Thorough knowledge of Incoterms and customs processes
• Level B1 written and spoken English: you must be able to communicate with stakeholders from
abroad, understand technical documentation and deal with international procedures
• You are well organised and methodical with excellent attention to detail in order to manage sensitive
procedures.
• You are able to prioritise and respond effectively.
• You have excellent interpersonal skills and a keen sense of team spirit.

Context

The ILL’s Reactor Division is responsible for both the operation of the reactor and the deuterium/tritium
recombiner unit and for the design and construction of upgrades to these installations.

Your tasks
Reporting to the Head of the Reactor Division's Nuclear Safety Unit (Cellule Sûreté) and in strict compliance
with the French regulations governing nuclear facilities, you will have the following duties:
• Prepare nuclear safety analyses relating to the fuel conversion programme for the High-Flux Reactor
• Ensure that the nuclear safety objectives are demonstrated by the conversion studies (mechanics,
instrumentation and control systems, thermal hydraulics, neutronics, radiation protection, etc.)
• Ensure the completeness of data submitted for the safety review (technical and regulatory
compliance studies, inspection programmes)
• Define and draft a methodology to account for the ageing process
• Prepare nuclear safety review analyses for the High-Flux Reactor in all areas of risk covered by the
French regulations governing basic nuclear facilities (INBs) (control of the three main safety
functions, studies of internal and external hazards)
• Contribute to the drafting of the safety review report
• Maintain the ILL’s baseline nuclear safety documentation (Safety Report, Fire Risk Assessment,
General Operating Rules, etc.)
• Prepare requests for authorisation in compliance with ASNR decision n° 2017-DC-0616 on the
management of modifications to nuclear facilities, and reply to questions from the ASNR and its
experts during the examination of these requests for authorisation.

Your profile
• You hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent qualification), specialising in general or nuclear
engineering.
• You have 3 to 5 years of experience in nuclear safety, with excellent knowledge of the nuclear sector
and its design, manufacturing and operating standards and French regulations.
• You have excellent writing skills and are meticulous, methodical and efficient in your work.
• You are used to communicating with a variety of stakeholders, while having an inquiring mind and
always maintaining the questioning attitude that is an essential part of safety culture.
• You must have a sound knowledge of French in order to communicate effectively with the French
nuclear safety authorities.

Context

We are looking a Physicist Engineer to design and implement hydrogen test benches for prototype fuel cells and H2 electrolysers at major Research Infrastructures (RIs).
This role supports the EU-funded ACTNXT project, aimed at accelerating the green transition via Power-to-X (PtX) technologies. The PtX community highlights the need for multi-modal characterisation (neutrons, X-rays) and robust hydrogen test benches to enable advanced operando studies at RIs.

Your tasks
You will interact with the groups within the ILL responsible for scientific instruments, industry partnerships, sample environment and European projects, and will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Work closely with the ACTNXT consortium to help ensure the progress of the project, including ILL’s specific contribution.
• Establish design criteria for hydrogen fuel cell and electrolyser test benches that meet users’ scientific needs, both current and envisaged, for operando, high-throughput and accelerated ageing studies.
• Lead the design, build and commissioning of safe, robust, portable, and easily operable test benches for RIs and users.
• Draft related documentation: functional design specifications, operational and maintenance guides.

Your profile

• Physicist Engineer with a Level 7 qualification (Master’s degree)
• You have a comprehensive knowledge of hydrogen test bench technologies and preferably a working acquaintance with neutron and synchrotron X-ray techniques.
• You must be at ease working in a large, international community of users and experts, and have a high degree of autonomy.
