facility for scientific research using neutrons in Grenoble, France. Every year, the centre hosts over 2000 visits
by scientists, who come to the Institute to carry out world-class research. As part of the Neutron Optics Service
(SON), you will join the "Helium 3" group, which specialises in the production of polarised 3He neutron spin
filters, which are essential for the scientific experiments conducted at the Institute.
Your tasks:
• Manage the supply and installation of 3He filters on the neutron experiments.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, in particular the machine for producing polarised gas.
• Contribute to the development of this equipment in collaboration with the rest of the team.
Participate in performance validation tests for new equipment.
• Write test reports.
SKILLS:
• You have a Level 4/5 qualification (NVQ, HNC/HND, foundation degree or equivalent) in physical
measurements, instrumentation or equivalent.
• You have experience in instrumentation and/or physical measurements.
• Knowledge of vacuum, optical and magnetism techniques is desirable.

Your main duties will be to:

Radiologists in a forward-thinking department where artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming part of
everyday clinical practice.
You will join a dynamic and supportive team of 24 consultant radiologists and 9 residents. The
department performs a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures, from routine examinations to
advanced interventions, comparable to those at larger university hospitals. The hospital is proud to
be early adopters of AI in radiology, currently using BoneView in daily practice, and actively exploring
additional AI tools to enhance diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
They use Agfa Impax PACS and RIS, and by 2027, we will transition to the Sectra RIS/PACS.
The Radiology Department at Telemark Hospital is part of the Medical Services Clinic and includes
five sections across four locations: Kragerø, Porsgrunn, Skien, and Notodden. In total, the
department has approximately 126 full-time staff.
The main tasks:
• Perform and interpret radiological examinations across all modalities offered at the
department (MRI, CT, Ultrasound, X-ray)
• Contribute to teaching, supervision, and professional development within the team
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic and patient-centered care
• Participate in the on-call rotation (currently a 12-part schedule)
• Support the department’s continuous improvement initiatives

SKILLS:
• Norwegian medical license and specialist certification in radiology. Norwegian authorization

WORK CONDITIONS:
• Standard working hours are from 07:30 to 16:00, monday through friday.
• Consultants (radiologists) follow a 12-part rotation schedule that includes both on-site duty
and on-call responsibilities. During on-call shifts, the consultant is on active duty from 11:00
to 22:00, followed by passive on-call duty from home overnight. The following day, the
working hours are adjusted to 07:00 to 12:00 to accommodate the extended shift. As part of
the rotation, consultants are scheduled to work two out of every twelve weekends. The
average weekly working time is approximately 44 hours.
• Salary: compensation and working conditions are in accordance with the agreements
between the Norwegian Medical Association (Legeforeningen) and Spekter, ensuring fair
remuneration for on-call duties, weekend shifts, and work performed outside regular hours.
For a full-time position (100%), the current minimum annual salary is eur 81.122 per year.
In addition, an individual supplement of eur 11.299,50 per year is provided. Further
compensation is granted for on-call duties and extended working hours.

English Translator

Your mission: 

You will join the ILL’s (small) two-person translation office, which is part of the Institute’s Administration Division. The office is responsible for the translation of internal and external documents from and into the ILL’s three official languages (French, English, and German), as well as the revision and proofreading of documents in English. The translation office handles a wide range of document types, including technical reports, contracts, press releases, specifications and financial statements, covering subject areas ranging from HR, law and finance to IT, safety, science and nuclear engineering. In addition to providing linguistic support for the Institute, the translation office is also responsible for the production of minutes (in English) of the biannual meetings of two of the ILL’s supervisory bodies.

Your tasks:

In your role as English translator, you will:

  • Translate documents from French (and occasionally from German) into English for both internal and external audiences
  • Assist with the outsourcing and checking of translations into French and German
  • Proofread texts written in English by non-native speakers
  • Provide linguistic and terminological advice
  • Contribute to the production and maintenance of language resources such as translation memories and terminology resources.

In your role as minute-taker, you will:

  • Attend the biannual meetings of the ILL’s Subcommittee on Administrative Questions and Steering Committee to produce, in compliance with strict deadlines, the summary of conclusions and minutes of these meetings. This may involve travelling to other European member countries of the ILL.

Your profile:  

  • You have a Master’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in translation or a related field with at least five years’ experience of working as a translator

  • A good command of German is desirable.

Your tasks
Reporting to the Head of Group and working closely with the other technicians in the group, you will have the following duties:

• Preparing and performing preventative and corrective maintenance and periodic testing and inspections on electronic equipment, including measuring channels and instrumentation and control systems
• Updating and managing technical documentation, in particular electronic schematics and electrical drawings, ensuring that they are compliant and accurate
• Carrying out performance testing and maintenance work on analogue circuit boards in the laboratory
• Preparing maintenance and test procedures, supervising subcontractors and reporting on activities in compliance with the quality and safety standards in force
• At a later date, and under the responsibility of a project manager: preparing and applying, or ensuring application of, technical documents enabling projects involving the creation or overhaul of installations to be carried out in compliance with quality and nuclear safety standards.

Your profile

• You have a Level 4/5 qualification (NVQ, HNC/HND, foundation degree or equivalent) in electronics.
• You are capable of making modifications and improvements to I&C and instrumentation equipment in an industrial environment using electrical and electronic drawings.

You will be part of the team of engineers and technicians responsible for the maintenance and the development of the electronic hardware in use on the various instruments of the ILL.
As a member of the electronics team, you will contribute to the maintenance, development and qualification of electronic equipment used on scientific instruments.
 
Your tasks
Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining existing equipment and producing newly developed electronic modules
  • Routing electronic boards and following up the manufacturing process
  • Monitoring the obsolescence of currently used electronic components to ensure their timely replacement before components become unavailable
  • Setting up and executing various tests to qualify electronic modules prior to their installation on the instruments
  • Interpreting test results and producing appropriate technical reports
  • Working in close collaboration with scientists and instrument users to understand operational needs and ensure the reliability of the electronic systems

 
Your profile
You must demonstrate the following qualifications and skills:

  • Level 4/5 qualification (HNC/HND, foundation degree or equivalent) in instrumentation or electronics, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with analog circuits and signal processing, as well as the use of test bench software (e.g. LabVIEW)
  • Confirmed skills in CAD software, preferably Orcad or Altium PCB
  • Proficiency in VHDL and FPGA programming
  • Strong hands-on approach, meticulous and autonomous in your day-to-day work
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with technical and scientific teams
  • Working knowledge of English would be an asset

We are looking for 2 mechanical maintenance technicians: you will work in direct collaboration with the other technicians within the group, and in particular, you will be responsible for the maintenance, operation and in-service monitoring of the reactor's light water installations and two radioactive liquid effluent discharge stations.

Your tasks
Your main role will be to operate, maintain and repair this equipment:

  • Preparing the documentation required for maintenance operations: drafting work procedures and work authorisations
  • Preparing and setting up work sites: selecting appropriate equipment configurations, preparing the work areas in conjunction with the Health Physics, Safety and Environment Service and performing maintenance operations
  • Drafting, where necessary, a maintenance report and filling out the logs for equipment under maintenance
  • Performing statutory periodic tests and inspections
  • Drafting technical specifications for subcontracted maintenance operations
  • Monitoring work carried out by subcontractors
  • Drafting technical documentation (procedures, instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), reports, etc.) in compliance with the ILL's Integrated Management System
  • Assist on an occasional basis with the operation of other equipment under the group’s responsibility.

Your profile

  • Level 4/5 qualification (NVQ, BTEC, HND or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, thermal engineering or maintenance, or similar
  • Experience of maintaining pumping systems is desirable, as well as the ability to perform simple fluid mechanics calculations
  • Prior experience of working within a quality assurance framework, if possible in the nuclear sector, would be a particular advantage
  • This position requires excellent analytical and writing skills, notable for drafting procedures, technical specifications and reports
  • Sound knowledge of vacuum techniques (in particular helium leak testing) is also required.

Sheet Metal Worker

Your tasks

You will provide support to the teams working in the Building and Site Maintenance Service. In the framework of your duties, you will be responsible for:

• Producing and/or modifying sheet-metal and mechanically welded assemblies and mounting these assemblies on, or adapting them to, the experimental areas in the guide halls.

• Performing routine sheet metal and fitting work in the context of the long reactor shutdown projects.

• Managing procurement, stocks of small supplies and equipment orders.

Your profile

You must have a Level 3/4 qualification (T levels, HNC, higher apprenticeship or equivalent) in metalwork or similar, and knowledge and/or experience of the following:

• Performing work on black steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper and plastic.

• Proficiency in various welding processes: Arc, TIG, MIG, semi-automatic, oxyacetylene and braze welding.

• Skills in profiling, machining and manufacturing parts.

• Handling and assembling prefabricated parts.

• Reading and interpreting drawings and sketches, taking measurements, and manufacturing simple parts.

A category B driving licence is required for this post. You must have a meticulous and organised approach your work and be able to work independently as

well as part of a team. You are recognised for your adaptability and interpersonal skills.
